Crispy Potato Popcorn

Potato popcorn is a quick, crispy, and mouthwatering snack made with grated potatoes, spices, and a light coating of bread crumbs. This easy-to-follow recipe will guide you in creating golden, crunchy potato balls that are perfect for tea-time snacks, kids’ lunchboxes, or party appetizers. With minimal ingredients and a short cooking time, you can prepare these delicious potato popcorns effortlessly at home.

Ingredients

  1. Potatoes – 4 (Medium Size)
  2. Corn flour – 50 gm
  3. Bread crumbs – 50 gm (optional)
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Black pepper – 1/2 tsp (optional)
  6. Oregano (optional) – 1/2 tsp
  7. Crushed green chili – 1/2 tsp
  8. Chopped green coriander – 1 tsp
  9. Oil for deep frying

Cooking Instructions

  1. Take 4 medium-sized potatoes and wash them thoroughly. Peel the skin off.
  2. Use a grater to finely grate the potatoes.
  3. Wash the grated potatoes 3-4 times in clean water to remove excess starch.
  4. Squeeze the grated potatoes well to ensure no water remains.
  5. In a mixing bowl, add grated potatoes, corn flour, bread crumbs, salt, black pepper, crushed green chili, oregano, and chopped green coriander. Mix everything well to form a uniform mixture.
  6. Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls.
  7. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or wok. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the potato balls into it.
  8. Fry them on medium flame until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove the fried potato popcorns and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  10. Serve hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
