Cottage Cheese (Paneer) Wrap

Paneer wraps are a popular and delicious dish that people all over the world enjoy. It makes an excellent snack or light meal that is both filling and healthy. Paneer is a type of Indian cottage cheese that serves as the dish’s main ingredient. It’s mixed with a variety of vegetables and spices to make a flavorful and nutritious filling that’s wrapped in a soft, warm chapati or wrap. Paneer wraps are a nutritious and healthy option for people looking for a quick and easy meal. It is high in protein, vitamins, and minerals, all of which are necessary for a healthy diet. The dish is also a good way to get more vegetables into your diet and spice up your meals.

Ingredients

  1. Cottage Cheese – 200 gm (cut in cubes)
  2. Chopped/Grated Carrot – 1 or 2
  3. Sliced Tomatoes – 3 (Medium size)
  4. Sliced Capsicum – 2
  5. Sliced Onion – 1
  6. Veg. Mayonnaise – 2 tbsp.
  7. Salt – As per your taste
  8. Black Pepper – 1/2 tbsp.
  9. Red Pepper – 1/2 tbsp.
  10. Maggie Masala (spice) – 1 tbsp.
  11. Chopped Coriander – 2 tbsp.
  12. For the Chapati, or Wraps
  13. Whole Wheat / All purpose flour – 2 cups
  14. Salt – As per your taste
  15. Oil – 1 tsp.
  16. Water as needed

Cooking Instructions

  1. To make the chapati or wrap, combine the whole wheat flour, salt, and oil in a mixing bowl.
  2. Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes soft and smooth. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into 8-10 equal-sized balls.
  4. Heat a tawa or non-stick pan over medium heat.
  5. Roll out each ball into a thin, round chapati or wrap. If the dough sticks to the rolling surface, use a little flour to dust it.
  6. Place the rolled-out chapati or wrap on the hot tawa or pan.
  7. Cook for a minute on one side or until small bubbles start to form on the surface.
  8. Flip the chapati or wrap and cook for another 30 seconds or until small brown spots appear on the surface.
  9. Remove the chapati or wrap from the pan and repeat the process with the remaining balls.
  10. For the cottage cheese (paneer) wrap filling, heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cottage cheese (paneer) cubes and fry until they turn golden brown. Remove from pan and keep aside.
  11. In the same pan, add a little more oil and sauté the sliced onion until they turn translucent.
  12. Add the sliced capsicum and grated carrot to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  13. Add the sliced tomato and sauté for another minute.
  14. Add the fried cottage cheese (paneer) cubes to the pan and mix well.
  15. Add the salt, 1 tsp. turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp. red pepper powder, 1/2 tsp. black pepper powder, and Maggie masala (if using) to the pan and mix well.
  16. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  17. After that, add the 2 tbsp. mayonnaise in the cottage cheese (paneer) filling.
  18. Warm the chapatis or wraps in a separate pan or microwave.
  19. Place a generous amount of the paneer and vegetable mixture in the center of each chapati or wrap.
  20. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  21. Roll the chapati or wrap tightly, tucking in the sides as you go.
  22. Cut in half and serve hot.
